October is Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog Month: Find your new best friend

Every dog deserves a loving home, and every home can be brightened by the unconditional love of a dog. That’s why each October is recognized as Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog Month, a nationwide effort to bring awareness to the thousands of dogs waiting in shelters and rescues for their chance at a forever family.
Across the country, animal shelters are full of dogs of all ages, sizes, and personalities. Some are playful puppies ready for adventure, while others are older, calmer companions looking for a soft couch and a gentle hand. Many were surrendered through no fault of their own. Changes in an owner’s circumstances, not the dog’s behavior, often bring them to the shelter doors.
