O’Beirne wins Daffodil Festival scholarship

Gloucester High School senior Seth O’Beirne was named the winner of this year’s Gloucester Daffodil Festival Scholarship. The $1,000 scholarship is renewable for four years.

The scholarship winner was announced virtually on Saturday, March 27, by Ann Andrews, chair of the Daffodil Festival’s Scholarship Committee.

O’Beirne, the son of Anjie and Donnie O’Beirne, has been a part of the GHS track and cross country teams. The well-rounded student is a four-time All-Region cross country athlete and 1,600-meter All-State athlete. He has maintained a GPA well over 4.0 and is a member of the Beta Club, National Honor Society, and the Spanish Honor Society.

He has given back to his community through volunteering with Gloucester Foundation 8k run/3k walk, the Gloucester Field Hockey Jamboree, making dog treats for the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society, as well as picking up trash along Short Lane.
