Numerous burglaries reported in Gloucester

The Gloucester Sheriff’s Office is seeking help from the public regarding numerous residential and commercial burglaries that have occurred recently in the county.

Between July 7 and Aug. 8, about a dozen burglary reports were filed with the GSO. The burglaries occurred throughout the county, including in the Providence Road, Hayes Road, Hickory Fork Road and Brays Point Road areas, as well as the Guinea, Ware Neck and Naxera areas. 

GSO Chief Investigator Scott Little said most of the burglaries have involved forced entry into residences that were unoccupied at the time. The thieves appear to be targeting electronics, such as televisions and gaming systems, jewelry, firearms and cash. Most have also occurred during the daytime.

Little said the GSO is employing added patrols during the suspected peak hours of these home intrusions and is pursuing every possible lead. It is asking that residents report anything or anyone out of the ordinary in an effort to help capture tho...
