Number of issues discussed at Gloucester Point town hall

Approximately 20 people attended a town hall meeting on June 14 at Abingdon Elementary School that was held to discuss issues of concern to the Gloucester Point community.

Gloucester Point district representative Bobby Crewe hosted the meeting. Issues discussed ranged from the county’s delayed reassessment to the proposed planned urban development designation for the lower end of the county.

According to Gloucester County spokesperson Christi Lewis, the discussion Tuesday night kicked off with a preview of the new library branch at the York River Crossing shopping center, Hayes, which should be ready to be occupied in about six weeks. She also said an update was given on ongoing fundraising efforts to support the branch.

Crewe updated the public on some of the latest actions that the Gloucester County Board of Supervisors had taken, including delaying the completion date of the county’s next general reassessment one year until Jan. 1, 2013. He also said that the boa...
