Those interested in applying for the interim appointment on the Mathews County School Board to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of member Jeanice Sadler have until Friday, Nov. 19.

Interested applicants residing in the county are invited to complete a brief application available in the Mathews School Board Office, P.O. Box 369, 63 Church Street, Mathews, Va. 23109 or via the division website www.mathews.k12.va.us. Details of the process are listed on the application form. Applications must be received no later than 2 p.m. on Nov. 19.

The school board will hold a public hearing at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 30, in the Mathews High School media center to receive the names of applicants for the vacancy. The remaining school board members are expected to make an interim appointment at their Dec. 21 regular monthly meeting. That appointment will be for one year; a special election will be held in November 2022 for the remainder of Sadler’s term, which expires at the end of 2023....
