Notes from Mathews High School

120 YEARS AGOThursday, Nov. 16, 1905from the Mathews Journal
What might have proved a very serious accident occurred Thursday evening last as Miss Kate Green and Miss Lillie Davis were driving home from school, when the horse took fright. The horse got away, the body was in some way knocked from the rest of the buggy and landed with its frightened occupants by the roadside. Fortunately, no bones were broken, and the young ladies were on hand bright and early the following morning.
The colors chosen by our committee have at last arrived. Yellow and black was the choice, and the two colors are a pleasing combination.
