Northern Neck Orchestra to present Bizet’s ‘Carmen’ in outdoor show

The Northern Neck Orchestra will present an outdoor concert performance of Bizet’s opera “Carmen” sung by members of James Taylor Studios of Richmond at 3 p.m. Sunday at Good Luck Cellars, 1025 Goodluck Road, Kilmarnock.

Tickets at $25 each may be purchased online at www.northernneckorchestra.org or at the door. Students are admitted free. The performance will be held outdoors and social distancing guidelines will be observed, including spacing between the audience and the singers.

The cast of includes mezzo-soprano Hannah Magnelli as the tempestuous gypsy Carmen, tenor James Taylor as the smitten soldier Don José, bass-baritone James Lynn as the bullfighter Escamillo and soprano Brittany Michaelsen-Mulkey as the charming maiden Micaëla. The ensemble will be conducted by Chris Swanson and accompanied by pianist Kristy Garber.

Taylor, chief executive officer of James Taylor Studios, is artistic director of the performance.
