North Star Market reopens after full renovation, with new owner

North Star Market, located on Route 14 at North, reopened for business Monday. Frequent customers of the business probably won’t even recognize the place.

New owner Mike Christopher said he opened the gas and convenience store after the building underwent extensive renovations and improvements. The market, which most recently had been operated for several years by another owner, had been closed for four months.

Christopher said some of the recent improvements include new flooring and lighting, repainting, and new deli equipment such as a pressure fryer.

Wendy Hurst of Mobjack, who has worked at North Star for 14 years under several owners, heads the six-member staff. Tammy Gannon of Cardinal, is the deli manager.

North Star sells several grades of Shell gasoline on its pumps. Christopher said the new store will keep some of the favorites from past ownerships, such as fried chicken, pork ...
