NORMAN HOSKINS MAJETTE

Norman Hoskins Majette, of Foster, passed away Oct. 30, 2018 after a valiant fight with cancer. He has now been reunited with Virginia, his beloved wife of 36 years.

Norman was born on Jan. 25, 1935 to Edgie and Thelma Majette. He loved growing up on Gwynn’s Island along with his brothers, Edgie and Carlton, and his sister, Mary, who all preceded him in death.

After being drafted and serving in the military, Norman made his career working on the tugboats for C&O Railroad in Newport News. After retiring, he worked in the Maintenance Dept. at Walter Reed Convalescent Center. He could fix just about anything and was meticulous in his work. Norman was always willing to lend a helping hand or give words of advice to those who needed it. Norman was one of the founding members of Cornerstone Fellowship Church and contributed to the building and maintenance of the church in its early years. He will be greatly missed by all!

Norman is survived by his son, Mark (Kathy); grandchildren, Shannon (David), Chad (Crystal), and Kyle; and one great-granddaughter, Kyla.

He is also survived by his stepchildren, Donnie (Lynn), Teresa (Chuck), William (Pam), Arlene, and Phyllis (Jimmy) who were thankful to have him as part of the family for the past 39 years! He has always been “Grandpa” to David, Honor, Michael, Sarah, Kristen, Katy, Chuckie, Andrew and Rebekah! Also surviving him are a stepson, Ronnie, many great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and cousins!

A funeral service will be held on Friday, Nov. 2, 2018, at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, in Mathews, at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Gwynn’s Island Cemetery.
