NONA M. CHAPMAN

Nona M. Chapman, widow of Capt. Claude Homer Chapman of Gloucester, died on Dec. 31, 2018 at the age of 92 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loved ones.

Nona was a graduate of Washington Irving High School and St. Mary’s School of Nursing. She worked at McGuire Hospital and retired from Sanders Nursing Home.

She is survived by a brother, Gerald (Buddy) McClain and his wife Jeanne of Bridgeport, West Virginia; three daughters, Nancy Barr (Ralph), Cheryl Zecher (John), and Karen Jackson; six grandchildren, Stephanie Booker, Lacey Jackson, Bobby Jackson, Brittany Ellis, Brock Kennedy, and Blake Kennedy, and seven great-grandchildren, Morgan and Andrea Booker, Hayden and Gunna Hall, Greyson and Ainsley Ellis and Henry Kennedy. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, Jan. 4, 2019, from 6-7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at Singleton United Methodist Church, Gloucester. Burial will be in Beulah Baptist Church in Ware Neck, Va.

Nona loved flowers or contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital or to Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society.
