No Walls Community Day to be held Saturday afternoon

More than 300 backpacks filled with school supplies await distribution on Saturday to young people of Mathews.The event takes place from 2-5 p.m. at the Piankatank Ruritan Club, Hudgins.

The Rev. Jason Hess, a co-organizer of 2022 No Walls Community Day, describes the event as a joint effort of county churches, pastors and leaders “to pull our resources together to make an impact in the community” with the backpack distribution its first priority.

Hess and his wife Myra and the Rev. Patrick Billups are coordinators of the event and its volunteers this year. He added that the event “is an opportunity for us to demonstrate our love of neighbor.”
