No Walls 2022

No Walls Community Day, which has been held since 2016 just before the start of the school year, was held on Saturday afternoon at the Piankatank Ruritan Club building, Hudgins. In three hours, 216 backpacks with school supplies were handed out to elementary, middle and high school students. No Walls Community Day is a joint effort of Mathews County pastors, churches, and community leaders to pull resources together to make an impact in the community. “This event is an opportunity for us to demonstrate our love of neighbor,” according to the event website. Among those lending a hand at the event were, from left, Danisha Spriggs, Amy Ashberry, Father Jason Hess, pastor of Refuge Mission, and his wife, Myra Hess, the Revs. Patrick Billups (holding Christian) and Carmaleta Billups of Relevant Church, and Jayda Hess.
