No injuries, limited damage as tornado touches down in Davis Creek neighborhood

A tornado drilled its way across a neighborhood on Davis Creek Friday night, twisting a trailer off its foundation, overturning a wooden shed, flattening a storage building, ripping off roofs, and doing other damage. No one was hurt.

Bavon resident Bill Johnson, looking over a destroyed building at Davis Creek Marina with sons Jacob and B.J. on Saturday morning, said Jacob had commented, "There goes a piece of our childhood."

Jacob, 17, said that during lazy summer days spent fishing off the dock as a child, he would buy candy and sodas in the small dock store that was now missing its roof.

"It had a bunch of old stuff in it," he said.

Bill said the store was like a little museum, where old timers sat around talking and drinking an occasional beer.

"It’s a different way of life," he said. "It’s a community, a little family."

The dock’s owner, Craig Mulligan, wasn’t available for comment.
