No April Fool’s Day joke

It was no April Fool’s Day joke when Gloucester residents Bob and Annette Pepin woke up last Thursday, April 1 to find this tree limb had made a clean spear through the roof of the couple’s Patriots Walk home. The bizarre incident happened around 3:30 a.m. They checked the National Weather Service wind chart for that day and found that the strongest gust of the day was indeed recorded between 3 and 4 a.m., registering 24 mph. “I figure there must have been a downdraft associated with this incident as well because we have had winds far greater than 24 mph since we moved here last June,” they wrote. “We’re thankful that it happened where it did.”
