The Northern Neck Farm Museum will hold its 2023 Fall Fundraiser on Oct. 14 at the Luther Welch Agricultural Center, Heathsville.
Doors open at 5 p.m. with light refreshments followed by a meal. The menu consists of steamed crabs, shrimp, sausage, potatoes, corn, beverages and dessert. Cost $50 per person. Tickets may be purchased by contacting one of the Board members or by calling Barbara Jean Jones at 804-450-2373 before Oct. 9.
The museum’s Fall Festival will be held on Saturday, Oct. 21. Its corn maze, corn wagon, sawmill in operation, crafts, hayrides and pumpkins will be available for enjoyment by everyone. Master Gardeners will be in the community garden that day. The museum board has planned a threshing demonstration and a chainsaw exhibit. Local antique cars will be displayed onsite, and FFA members will bring friendly farm animals. Concessions will be available.
Anyone who has antique farm equipment is invited to bring it for viewing by visitors. Hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is $10, which includes the corn maze. Volunteers are needed; for more information, contact Robin Mitchell at rdfisher75@hotmail.com.
The corn maze will remain open on weekends until Oct. 29.
Plow Day will be held on Saturday, Nov. 4, at the farm of Robert H. Gawen, Kelvin Grove Farm, 9511 Cople Highway, Hague. Antique tractors will be engaged in plowing the land as in years past.
