Chris Newsome of Cobbs Creek, who serves as a fishing guide with his company Bay Fly Fishing LLC, has been appointed to a four-year term on the Virginia Marine Resources Commission, Gov. Ralph Northam announced Friday.

A lifelong resident of the Tidewater region, Newsome is a graduate of Mathews High School and Old Dominion University, where he earned a B.S. in biology with an emphasis in marine science.
