Newly formed PATH group meets June 20 in Hudgins

PATH, People Aging in Their Homes, will hold a social gathering to explain the program from 5:30-7 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, at Piankatank Ruritan Club, Hudgins.

PATH launched to a large crowd in a community meeting on April 26. The program will be designed to help Mathews residents remain in their homes as they age rather than move to a continuing care retirement community, assisted living facility, or with their children or other relatives, a release said.  

At the June 20 meeting, county residents may join the organization as charter members or founders, or to learn more about it at the wine and cheese social.

The release said PATH is now incorporated and has applied for status as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.  

According to the release, those who wish to be a part of PATH will apply for membership, paying annual dues that will be set according to the number of members and the experience PATH gains with actual operation. Initially, the dues will be $200 for an individual or $300...
