Daddio’s Subs & Stuff opened last month in the York River Crossing Shopping Center at Hayes.
The brand-new business features Philly steak subs, Italian subs, and meat-topped salads, and it’s making a name for itself with its Stromboli. The menu offers everything from the signature items to pizza on a bun, hamburgers, all-beef Angus hot dogs, and “Aunt Nae’s Grilled PB&J.”
Pizza dough and sauces are made with Italian family recipes, and the lasagna recipe was the owner’s mother’s. It’s found on the menu as “Grandma Bertoia’s Family Recipe.” Sides range from bacon cheddar cheese fries to macaroni salad. There are weekly specials.
Owner Dirk Parker has 40 years of experience in the pizza and sub business, having owned Dirko’s Pizza in his home state of Ohio. He and his wife Theresa married nine months ago and moved to Gloucester to be closer to their children. He has a daughter in Norfolk and she has two children in Northern Virginia.
