New signs promote Gloucester Court House area

New banner posts and signs were installed recently around Gloucester’s court circle to promote the area, according to Carol Steele, the county’s Parks, Recreation and Tourism director.

Also, directional signs to the Historic District and Visitors Center have been placed along Route 17 near the village.

In other tourism news, Steele said 384 guests visited the Visitors Center in August. They were provided with brochures, magazines and maps.

In a Sept. 10 report to County Administrator Brenda Garton, Steele said some of her department’s other highlights for August included:

—The vehicle count for the Roaring Springs Road entrance to Beaverdam Park was 4,790, while the Fary’s Mill Road entrance recorded 1,289 vehicles. Also at Beaverdam, Steele reported 38 facility rentals at the park, repairs to a shed roof there and installation of rollers to make moving the jon boats easier;

—Metal benches were replaced at Ark Park;
