Cattail’s, a gift and home décor shop on Buckley Hall Road in Mathews, is under new ownership.

Lyn Kucker, who had worked at the store for the prior owner for three years, purchased the business in early July with her husband, Brian. They reside at Moon and previously lived at Manakin-Sabot near Richmond and had a seasonal home here.

The Kuckers bought the business from Owen Tyler of North. Tyler’s wife, the late Julie Tyler, started the business about 10 years ago with Carol Joyce of North; Joyce now works part-time at the shop.

Kucker said she just “fell in love” with the shop and with Mathews and decided to take the plunge into business ownership. She operates the store Mondays through Saturdays.
