New owner takes over at Crown Pointe Marina

After managing golf courses for 24 years, Rob Giampietro was looking to buy a golf course. Instead of landing a course, he ended up buying a marina in Gloucester.

Giampietro said he and his wife, Tracey, used a broker who handled golf courses and marinas. While looking at different sites up and down the East Coast, they finally settled on Crown Pointe Marina at Hayes.

The Giampietros purchased Crown Pointe in mid-May from Martha Heric, who said in a release that “it is with a mixture of emotions that I decided I should hand over the reins to someone else to take the marina to the next level.” And Giampietro is already hard at work, doing chores like maintenance and landscaping himself.

Crown Pointe has 217 slips, a boatyard, and many amenities such as two swimming pools, a ship’s store, a snack bar, a clubhouse and shower facilities. Giampietro isn’t sitting still, as he has bought some new grills and plans to remodel some of the docks this fall. The marina o...
