Vera Lloyd, a new men’s clothing store, has opened its doors on Gloucester’s Main Street.

Owner Jackie Ammons also owns Weekends Fashions in Kilmarnock and decided to open another clothing store in Gloucester because she saw a vacuum in the market for men’s clothing.

Ammons said she noticed there wasn’t a place for men to shop for clothes on Main Street or anywhere nearby. Having owned Weekends Fashions for three years, she had the experience and the means to fill the void.

The styles customers can find at Vera Lloyd vary from business casual to casual wear with brands including Peter Millar, Old South and Duck Head. The second floor of the business will soon offer women’s clothing and accessories with brands including Renée, Pure Essence and Krazy Larry.

Ammons said the initial response has been good, especially from fellow Main Street business owners. She expects business to increase following Friday’s official ribbon cutting, at 4:15 p.m.
