New Kent Winery to expand

New Kent Winery will invest $715,000 and create seven new jobs to expand its operations in New Kent County, Gov. Ralph Northam announced on Monday.

This is both the first economic development announcement in New Kent County and the first Agriculture and Forestry Industries Development facility grant awarded to the county since Northam took office.

New Kent Winery is committing through this project to purchase an additional 120 tons of Virginia grapes over the next three years, the release stated. New investments in winemaking and packaging equipment will enable the winery’s production capacity to be doubled to over 10,000 cases per year.

Northam approved a $15,000 AFID grant for the project, which New Kent County will match with local funds. ...
