New face, van at funeral home

Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home in Mathews has made a couple of changes recently, managing director Albert Foster said.

Bill Davis of Topping has joined the business as an associate. He works part-time and also helps at Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home in Saluda, which is affiliated with the Mathews service.

Davis previously worked in the security field in Maryland for 20 years.

Foster also said Foster-Faulkner recently added a new removal van. The specially designed vehicle has a lift and ramp for handling a body. The vehicle is designed to serve multiple purposes, he said, including transporting pallbearers and flower arrangements. The vehicle can hold six passengers.

Foster said his fleet also includes one hearse, one other van and a lead car to head a funeral procession.

Foster-Faulkner has nine employees who, Foster said, try to show dignity to the deceased and compassion and understanding for the bereaved....
