Eleanor Woollard is a new counselor at Steider & Associates, located on Teagle Lane in Gloucester Court House. She works part-time at Steider, which also has offices at Kilmarnock and Warsaw.

Woollard is a licensed professional counselor and a certified substance abuse counselor. She meets individually with clients or in couples or small groups. Most clients are adults, although she also counsels older teenagers.

In tight economic times, Woollard said many people who need counseling don’t seek it or other medical attention because they believe they cannot afford it. But she said that many of them become worse off without specialized counseling.
Woollard was previously in private practice in Gloucester for 20 years and most recently was manager for a substance abuse program in Williamsburg.

Originally from Portsmouth, Woollard earned a bachelor’s degree at Mary Washington University, and master’s and doctoral degrees at West Georgia University.
