New communications system

Gately Communications has been busy installing mobile radios in vehicles for use with new communications systems for the Mathews County Sheriff’s Office, Fire Department, and Rescue Squad. Radios were installed in vehicles the week before last and the sheriff’s office began using the new system then, said Major John Williams, adding that reception is greatly improved. Fire department and rescue squad personnel received training on their new equipment last week and converted over to the new system on Friday, said Fire Chief Todd Wilson.
