New book chronicles Gloucester County during the Civil War

The Gloucester Historical Society has announced publication of a new 376-page book, “One Day at a Time: History of Gloucester County during the War Between the States, 1861-1865.”
The announcement said that Benjamin H. Harris Jr., who died unexpectedly in 2024, had worked on this book for more than a decade. It covers all of the events of Gloucester units during the war, and included details on every soldier from Gloucester that he could find.
After his death, Trina Dugan, through a Historical Projects grant given by the society, and William L. Lawrence worked to incorporate editing notes which Harris had not completed. They brought the book to a condition to be published.
The book can be purchased for $40 at the Gloucester Museum of History of the Gloucester Visitor’s Center....
