Erik Buckley has been promoted to administrator of Walter Reed Convalescent & Rehabilitation Center in Gloucester. He is in overall charge of the local center.
Buckley began in his new position Nov. 29, replacing Doug Vaughan, who was promoted to vice president of operations for the facility’s parent company, Virginia Health Services.
Walter Reed employs 200 people, both full- and part-time. The center has a capacity of 181.
One change at the center is a newly opened Memory Care Unit, a 23-bed secure wing where Alzheimer’s and dementia residents can be safely cared for without their wandering away. Another is the conversion of 10 semi-private rooms to private rooms, following up on repeated patient requests for more privacy.
