Nearly 80 authors take part in G-J’s ‘Day With Words’

More than 150 people, both young and old, wound their way through the Gazette-Journal’s main offices in Gloucester last Thursday, visiting the nearly 80 local authors in attendance for the newspaper’s “A Day With Words” book fair event. 

The day not only brought visitors to the Gazette-Journal, where they could browse dozens of categories of books signed by the authors, but also attracted guests to other Main Street businesses. A number of these businesses offered specials during the afternoon to coincide with the event.

Gazette-Journal employees and youth volunteers helped with serving the authors lunch, passing around refreshments throughout the afternoon, parking cars and assisting authors in transporting their materials from their vehicles to their respective booths. “It was a great effort by all Gazette-Journal staff,” said Elsa Verbyla, publisher of the newspaper.
