Nearly 200,000 bottles sold in local ABC stores in first six months of 2016

Almost 200,000 bottles of alcoholic beverages were sold at Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control stores in Gloucester and Mathews during the period January-July 2016, a recent ABC report indicated.

The most bottles— 88,497—were sold at the ABC store at York River Crossing Shopping Center, Hayes. At the Gloucester Court House store, 71,972 bottles were sold from January-July this year, the report said, while 37,856 bottles were sold at the Mathews store.

Year-end figures for 2015 were: Hayes, 161,083 bottles; Gloucester, 120,879, and Mathews, 64,735. For comparison, in 2014, 158,807 bottles were sold at Hayes, 120,885 at Gloucester and 62,762 in Mathews.

Sales totaled 146,978 bottles at Hayes in 2014, the report said, with 120,242 bottles sold at the Gloucester store and 59,421 bottles sold in Mathews. In terms of monetary value, Hayes posted $1,302,514 for January-July 2016, the report said, while that store totaled $2,372,869 in 2015.
