NEAL E. MESSER

Neal E. Messer of Port Haywood, beloved husband of Maxine Messer, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 2, 2018, after a courageous battle with cancer.

God saw you were getting tired, and a cure was not to be. So, he put his arms around you and whispered, “Come to me.” With tearful eyes we watched you and saw you pass away. Although we loved you dearly we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating. Hardworking hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.

Neal was born on July 21, 1928 to the late Advin Messer and Nellie Messer. He was predeceased by twin brothers, Floyd and Lloyd Messer.

Leaving to cherish his memories is his wife, Maxine; one daughter, Carol Oates; one granddaughter, Farin, and two great-granddaughters.

He was a member of Westville Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon.

He loved being out in the water fishing and working in his little garden.

We would like to thank hospice and give a special thanks to Pam, Jonathan, Becky and Gina who showed so much love and compassion to my husband and I.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
