Nature trail

Middle Peninsula Master Naturalists recently spent two days building a nature trail next to Carter’s Creek on property owned by the Fairfield Foundation called Fairfield Archaeology Park. Thane Harpole, Co-Director for the Fairfield Foundation, plans to use the trail for educational purposes and to offer use of the trail to community groups interested in the Carter’s Creek environment. Susan Walton, a Middle Peninsula Master Naturalist, is leading the effort to photograph and catalog the plants found along the trail. The Middle Peninsula Bird Club is planning to use the park as a birdwatching venue and make use of the new trail. Other nature trails may be built at the park in the future. Others also helping with the project were Harry Colestock and Tom Crockett. Shown here at the trail are, from left, Susan Walton, Chris Conley, project leader Susan Crockett, Luann Johnson and Sherry Rollins; not shown, Amy Baker and Roger Dick.
