Gloucester Parks, Recreation and Tourism is hosting three nature hikes in the coming weeks at Beaverdam Park, beginning with the Full Hike (9.5 miles), beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 16.

It’s a 9.5-mile hike so bring water and snacks. Wear sturdy shoes and dress for the weather. The registration fee is $5 and the deadline to register is Saturday.

The Shortest Day Hike will be held on the Winter Solstice, Thursday, Dec. 21, beginning at 5:30 p.m. This event is a two-hour hike. Wear sturdy shoes and dress for the weather. The registration fee is $5 and the deadline to register is next Thursday, Dec. 14.

A First Day Hike (9.5 miles) will be held on Monday, Jan. 1, beginning at 10 a.m. The registration fee is $5 and the deadline to register is Dec. 25.

YOUTH BASKETBALL: Signups are underway for youth basketball league. Senior League will be held for ages 15-18 (18-year-olds must still be in high school). Junior League is for ages 12-14. The league will play early March...
