NATHANIEL CASEY CLAY

Nathaniel Casey Clay, 24, of Spotsylvania/Gloucester, died June 12, 2017 at his home.

Casey’s life was too short, but he lived his life to the fullest. From a small toddler, Casey never knew a stranger, having the ability to easily engage anyone, at any place and time, in a full conversation.

Casey was a self-taught guitarist, playing any type of guitar, but specifically mastering the 12-string acoustic guitar. Casey could replicate any song he heard, and would entertain family and friends with his talents on any occasion he had a guitar in hand. He loved experiencing life, sharing his experiences with family and friends, and was able to travel from coast-to-coast and see much of the United States within the past six years.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Garland H. Clay and J.E. Sterling.

He is survived by his mother, Carrie Hendricks, and stepdad, Benny; father, Sam Clay (Lisa); his soul mate, whom he loved dearly, Lexi Apperson; daughter, Bailey Martin; brothers, Ryan Clay (Samantha) and B.J. Hendricks (Mark); sisters, Caitlyn Clay, Kaila Hendricks (Hope) and Brittany Hendricks; maternal grandmother, Fran Lawrence; paternal grandmother, Ruth Clay; his special buddy and nephew, Kaiden Clay; aunts Lori and Gayle, and cousins Sara, Scott, Mandy and Kyle.

The family will receive friends Thursday, June 15, 2017, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. Services will be private.
