NANCY ELAINE RIVIERE

Nancy Elaine Riviere, 73, of Gloucester, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2016.

She was the daughter of the late McDonald and Irene Bell Deaton of Ringgold, Georgia.

In 1966 she met and married Hervie L. Riviere. Hervie was a career Army Officer so she spent the next 20 years traveling around the globe and raising a family.

The family came to Gloucester in 1980. Nancy was a physical therapist and was employed by Riverside Walter Reed Hospital where she worked from 1980 until her retirement in 2005. Nancy enjoyed the traveling during the military years and working in her flower beds upon retirement.

She has touched many lives with her kindness, compassion and loving personality. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.

She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years Hervie; daughters, Rachel, Christi, and Shannon; grandchildren, Katelyn, Madison, and Hannah Beth; brother, Billy Ray Deaton of Winder, Georgia.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Ann.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, April 28, 2016, from 6:30-8 p.m. A memorial service will be held on April 29, 2016, at 3 p.m. at Union Baptist Church by the Rev. John Pouchot.

Memorial donations may be made to either the Gloucester Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Assoc., P.O. Box 1881, Gloucester, Va. 23061 or to Riverside Walter Reed Hospice, 7358 Main Street, Gloucester, Va. 23061.

The family extends a heartfelt gratitude to all of our friends who have taken the time to visit and spend time with Nancy during her battle with Alzheimer’s. Special thanks to the staff of the “Cottage” at Gloucester House and the staff of Riverside Walter Reed Hospice for the warm and tender care they have provided to Nancy. You are all champions.
