Myrtle D. Shepherd, 86, of Gloucester, died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017, at the home of her granddaughter, Ryane Brinkman, in Ohio.

Myrtle was born March 22, 1931 to James and Susie Ewell Daniels. A Christian woman of strong faith Myrtle was a longtime member of Bellamy United Methodist Church.

Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many. Possessing a true servant’s heart, Myrtle faithfully cared for family until the time came for family to give back and care for her.

“A heart is not judged by how much you love; but by how much you are loved by others.”

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William L. “Willie Boy” Shepherd, and son, James Thomas “J.T.” Shepherd.

Her survivors include, a brother, Richard “Sonny” Daniels (Anne); two daughters, Brenda Jenkins and Linda Reed; grandchildren, Tiffany Jenkins (Hunter), Stephanie Jenkins, Shannon Reed (Shawn), and Ryane Brinkman (Seth); great-grandchildren, Courtney Jenkins-Lipscomb, Alicia Dunn, Machele Chandler, Taylor Brinkman, and Jackson Brinkman.

A celebration of life service, conducted by the Rev. Kenneth Waclo, was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017, at Bellamy United Methodist Church, Gloucester. Inurnment followed in Bellamy Church Cemetery.
