Mustard Seed Natural Market, located in White Marsh Shopping Center, celebrated its grand opening on Jan. 21. The store offers a wide array of local, organic and natural groceries, as well as a selection of holistic health and home products.

Owners Kate and Jim Hoving said they felt that God was calling them to Virginia from their home in Maine and were able to purchase the storefront space from Health Trail Natural Foods.

The store’s name, Mustard Seed, comes from Matthew 17:20: “Jesus responds, ‘…If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’, and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.’”

The couple’s daughter, Audrey Varga, runs the store while they travel back and forth from Maine. Kate said that her parents like to joke about having a 15-hour commute.

Since the couple has a lot of animals, they are not sure when they will be able to relocate and are looking for the right fit.
