Musick-Williams named to Junior National Team

Gloucester High School student Zane Musick-Williams was recently named to the U.S. Rowing Men’s U17 Junior National Team.

Musick-Williams was a member of the Dukes’ state champion junior quad that also placed fourth at last month’s Stotesbury Cup Regatta. Musick-Williams most notably won a silver medal in February at the World Indoor Rowing Championships in the 16-year-old lightweight race.

Musick-Williams will spend a month training at the McCallie School in Chattanooga, Tennessee, in preparation for the U.S. Rowing Club Nationals in Camden, New Jersey, on July 11-13, where he will race wearing the coveted Stars and Stripes uniform. He is now the second rower from GHS in three years to be named to the Junior National Team.

Casey Martin, who recently completed her freshman year as a member of UVA’s nationally ranked crew, won a gold medal at the CanAmMex regatta in the summer of 2016 as a member of the Women’s Junior National Team.   ...
