Musical Sunday to benefit special needs children

A musical to benefit special needs children will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Westville Christian Church, Mathews.

Sponsored by Disciples of Christ, the annual event will include several styles of music to showcase the talent of local musicians. Refreshments will be served.

Cobbs Creek resident Shannon Collins, a Christopher Newport University student who has been a popular performer in the show for the past two years, will sing with her 10-year-old sister, Savannah. The two will sing Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” and “For Good” from the Broadway musical “Wicked.”

Madison Raef will perform for the first time, while other singers are Caleb Selph, Robin Powell, Michael Gregg and Doug DeForge, Brian Smith, Ray Gresham, Tim Dice, Fido Stephens, and a trio of children from Central United Methodist Church.

Funds raised by passing the hat will be used to send local special needs children to Craig Springs Camp and Retreat in New Castle. ...
