Friends of Machicomoco State Park held Music in the Park in partnership with Virginia State Parks on Saturday at the Hayes park. Local singer-songwriter Ami Baker opened the event with multiple guitar solos. The Tidewinders then entertained the crowd of about 250, playing a mix of bluegrass with a modern flair. About a third of those in attendance indicated that this was their first visit to Machicomoco State Park, with many commenting they plan to return. “We were pleased at the turnout for our second Music in the Park event held at the park,” said Dave Harlan, President of Friends of Machicomoco. Friends of Machicomoco State Park is a nonprofit organization focused on enhancing visitor experience through a variety of volunteer-led projects and programs. The next Music in the Park event featuring The Tom Euler Trio, one of Virginia’s leading blues groups, will be held on Saturday, Sept. 13.
