Museum to host viewing of ‘Voyage of Discovery’

“A Voyage of Discovery,” a documentary describing the 1608 travels of Captain John Smith up and down Chesapeake Bay, will be shown Friday at 7 p.m. in the Mathews Historical Museum, 200 Main Street. There is no charge to attend.

Smith and a small crew set out from Jamestown on two exploratory voyages, covering the entire bay area, recording information about indigenous peoples and the landscape. This material was sent to England hoping to expand colonization, a release said.

Doors will open at 6:30.
