Murder charge certified to grand jury

A first-degree murder charge against a teenager accused of fatally shooting his friend in a car on the way to a Ware Neck party the night of Jan. 16 was certified to the grand jury during a preliminary hearing in Gloucester District Court last Thursday. 

Dijon Lamour Whitter, 18, of Yorktown is accused of fatally shooting 18-year-old Joshua Steven Morrison, also of Yorktown. Whitter allegedly shot three others in the car who survived. The shootings occurred on Gill Lane in the Ware Neck area of Gloucester.

Whitter is additionally charged with malicious wounding and two counts of using a firearm while committing a felony in the incident. Those charges were also certified to the grand jury last Thursday.
