MSGT. KENNETH MCAULEY SR.

MSgt. Kenneth McAuley Sr., USAF-retired, departed this life on April 25, 2018 after a battle with Alzheimer’s.

He was a man known to many and by many names some of which include “Mr. Ken, Dad, Brother, Pop Pops, Pops, Popeye, Money and Maytag.” Born in Atlanta, Georgia, on June 23, 1929, but grew up in Notasulga, Alabama, until entering the United States Air Force (USAF) in November 1948.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his loving wife, Annie Jo; daughter, Judith, and son, Kyle.

Kenneth entered the USAF and was stationed at Kirtland AFB New Mexico, Warner Robbins AFB Georgia, Bentwaters RAF Station England, Patrick AFB Florida, Andrews AFB Maryland, Okinawa, Japan, and last at Andrews AFB Maryland where he retired 1 January 1969.

Following his military service, Kenneth entered Federal Civil Service in Bureau of Engraving and Printing, U.S. Treasury, until he retired and relocated to Hardyville, Virginia, in 1989.

Kenneth was Life Member and Past Commander of American Legion Post 82, Saluda, and a Life Member and Past Adjutant of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 58, Gloucester.

Kenneth is survived by his children, Kenneth McAuley Jr. (Darlene) and Keith McAuley (Cathy). He is also survived by eight grandchildren, V. Lynne Parker, Katie McCue (Chris), Christina McDermott, Amanda Keithley (Jason), Teresa 

McMahon (Tony), Kellie Booth (Jay), Melanie McAuley, Tyler McAuley, and 14 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Bristow-Faulkner Chapel, Saluda, on Monday, April 30 at 5 p.m. A reception followed at American Legion Post 82, 192 Watson Landing, Saluda.
