A memorial service for MSG. Ret. Arthur “Art” Thornton of Hephzibah, Ga., will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 16, 2015 at the First United Baptist Church, Gloucester. He died June 25, 2015.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Eleanor Thornton, and mother, Lucille Elizabeth Thornton.

Survivors include his sons, Arthur LeDon Thornton and Bryan Jamar Thornton; daughter, Elizabeth R. Henson; sister, Louise Corbin Reed; brother, Edward “Jerry” Thornton, and a grandson. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cemetery Fund of the church.
