MRA rowers compete in Philadelphia Youth Regatta

The Mobjack Rowing Association’s summer racing program traveled on Friday to participate in the Philadelphia Youth Regatta held on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia.

The junior team entered nine men’s events and the women raced in six. The teams improved on their performances from three weeks ago at the Independence Day Regatta and placed 11th out of 45 in team point standings, pulling one gold, seven silvers, one bronze, two fourths and four fifth-place finishes.

Team points were based on team entries versus their results with 518 team boats participating. Mobjack’s senior men’s team made up of Mathews High School alumni Phillip Machen, Matt Thomas, Kyle Moran and Tucker Blackwell, accompanied the junior team and although not eligible to compete in the Philadelphia Youth Regatta, they were able to arrange scrimmages with Penn AC’s senior men on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning to gain experience.
