MRA rowers compete at Occoquan Chase

The Mobjack Rowing Association’s Fall Youth Racing Program travelled Oct. 15 to Sandy Run Regional Park in Occoquan to compete in the 25th annual Occoquan Chase Regatta. MRA rowers have been competing successfully at this 5,000-meter head race since the regatta’s inception.

Mobjack standouts included Sebastian Knebl and James Raha, who took first and third, respectively, out of 11 junior men’s singles; Rachel Witt, who placed second of five in the junior women’s singles, and Samantha Fank with Maddy Polson who took second of six in the junior women’s double.

Knebl and Raha then joined Fletcher Rich, Zach Cummings and coxswain Ailiegh Daniel to take 11th of 24 in the junior men’s four.

Competing in the junior women’s quad event, Olivia Wood, Mandy Moran, Saylor Jensen and Alexis Pelfrey took fifth of seven entries and in the junior men’s quad event, Troy Moncrieff, Hunter Morton, Cole Wheeler and Rachel Witt came in sixth.
