Mobjack Rowing Association rowers competed on Sunday, June 28 at the Occoquan Memorial Sprints Regatta, held at the Sandy Run Regional Park in Occoquan. With their trailer packed with 10 boats, the crew left Mathews at 2:30 a.m. Sunday in order to be on the starting line five hours later for the long day of racing. Facing 292 entries from 36 different teams, the Mobjack racers turned in good results in the 1,000-meter races with four gold, three silver, three bronze and two fourth-place finishes. In addition to the Mobjack seven junior rowers attending, alumnus Matt Thomas also came separately to race in the open single, double and other events wearing his Mobjack jersey as well. Open events are unlimited in age and skill level; junior events are restricted to those 19 years or younger.
