MPPDC to host stormwater seminar

The Middle Peninsula Planning District Commission, in partnership with Draper Aden Associates, will sponsor an educational seminar about stormwater management from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, at the Cooks Corner Office Complex, 2911 General Puller Highway, Saluda.

The seminar is aimed at local contractors, landscapers and surveyors who will work with new Virginia stormwater management program regulations. All Virginia communities are required to adopt and implement stormwater management programs by July 1, 2014.

The first session, from 8:30-10 a.m., will provide a stormwater program overview. MPPDC regional planner Jackie Rickards and representatives from Draper Aden will describe the stormwater management process and things the professionals should know before and during construction. Stormwater is all water related to precipitation, including runoff from melting snow.
