MPPDC adopts long-range transportation plan

The Middle Peninsula Planning District Commission accepted a long-range transportation plan during a meeting Jan. 25 at its Saluda headquarters.

The plan is intended as a regional and local transportation planning tool, said regional project planner Clara Meier. Localities can use components in updating their individual six-year road improvement lists, she said.

The plan includes 20 detailed study locations throughout the six counties and three towns the commission serves, Meier said. Three of the targeted projects are in Gloucester, while three others are in Mathews. Meier said the commission did not rank the projects in terms of which order they should be completed, noting that many recommendations came out of discussions on this "hot spot" list.
