Motley hits 3 homers in Lady Dukes’ win

Bridget Motley powered the Gloucester High School Dukes to a 10-3 softball season-opening victory over Woodside at Stoney Run on Tuesday.

She hit three home runs and drove in four RBIs. Mackenzie Smith also hit a home run in Gloucester’s 13-hit attack.

Gloucester took an early 1-0 lead on Smith’s solo home run in the second inning, but Woodside quickly tied the score with a solo home run of their own. Motley again gave the Dukes a 2-1 lead on an opposite field home run, but the Wolverines tied it up again with their second solo blast. 

Woodside took a 3-2 lead with a single run in the fifth inning, but it was short-lived. Motley led off the bottom of the fifth inning and hit a 1-0 pitch deep over the left-field fence to tie the game, 3-3.
